ALL ABOUT MY BLONDE CURLS
As you all know I have recently transitioned back to the brighter side of blonde curls! I have always preferred my hair a bit lighter but this is definitely the blondest I have ever gone. I won’t lie I really contemplated the decision because blonde curls can be high maintenance. So I was sure to have all the products I needed to help me preserve the color and health of my hair prior to my hair appointment.
My cut and color were done at “The Curl Sanctuary” located in Melbourne, Florida by co-owner and stylist, Marlon. He performed a Rezo Dry Cut and used my inspo picture to get the color just right.
Though I wish I could have a stylist do my hair every day, I don’t have that luxury so I was sure to ask questions for reassurance as to how to ensure my hair remained healthy and happy. Let’s get into those tips now:
1. DEEP CONDITIONING
You girls already know that curly hair LOVES hydration! And now that my hair has been lightened and processed it needs even more moisture and help to thrive. To give these blonde curls the love they need and deserve I make sure to deep condition EVERY WEEK! Sometimes twice a week to really help promote healthy beautiful curls. To do this I have been using Olaplex No.0 Intensive Bond Building Treatment (which is new to the line) followed by Olaplex No.3 Hair Perfector (HOLY GRAIL). These two together help repair broken bonds in your hair and bring it back to life! I do not go a week without deep conditioning with these. However, if I am feeling like my hair needs just a little extra TLC I will go in with Briogeo’s Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask and this always leaves my hair soft, moisturized, and ready to style.
2. CLEANSE WITH PURPLE SHAMPOO
Okay, so if you are new to processed blonde hair, then you might be a bit confused as to why I would be washing my hair with purple shampoo… but here are the reasons why you NEED to be doing this to really persevere the blonde:
- Purple shampoo gets offsets the brassy, yellow tones of raw blonde hair and helps your blonde look more natural and cool-toned.
- Using this can help you save on visits to the hair salon to brighten your hair as you are assisting with keeping the tone.
I would speak to your styler regarding when how soon after to start using a purple shampoo and how often. My stylist told me to wait approximately 4 (washes) weeks after he processed my hair because doing it too soon can rinse out the toners he initially applied.
Keep in mind this should not replace your normal shampoo/co-wash but just be an added step in your wash day routine.
Product Recommendation: Shimmer Lights Purple Shampoo
I hope this was helpful to you all and if anyone decides to go blonde don’t forget to share pictures! – Kelsie
