I’m sure it isn’t a surprise anymore that a few months ago I entered to be the next Miss World Cayman Islands! I know you all have so many questions and here I am to answer them.
Let me start by explaining what exactly is “Miss World” / Miss World Cayman Islands?
Miss World is a global franchise that is headquartered in the UK it all began in 1951 by the Morley family. It is currently the longest running “beauty pageant”. I am a bit skeptic saying “beauty pageant” because it is more than that, it is a way to empower women and have a voice, this leads me into my next topic “Why Miss World Cayman Islands?”.
Why Miss World Cayman Islands?
What truly sold me on the Miss World Pageant is the strong focus on “Beauty With a Purpose”.
I have always been community oriented with a strong belief that the world could use more kindness. My personal platform is to speak out on Women in Finance and encourage younger girls to pursue a career in this male-dominated field, I can go on a lot about why I chose this focus on but I’ll save it for a different post. Our pageant platform is the Environment, I was very happy to hear this! If you recall some of my previous post you know how highly I speak of my beautiful Islands, so to be apart of ensuring it stays this way and encouraging others to do the same was something I easily jumped abroad to do.
On my ten week journey to pageant day, my calendar was filled with tons of events, media interviews and, preparation. In the midst of our hectic schedule, the girls and I all managed to keep each other grounded. To my pageant sisters, WE DID IT! I am so happy to have met you wonderful ladies and I can’t wait to see what the future has in store for you all.
I have so many THANK YOU’s and would like to start with my sponsor ProSolar Systems! They were so supportive, checking up on me before the sports segment, attending the motorcade and ensuring they were there pageant night. The MWCI committee, I am so happy I am able to continue working with you all, thank you soooo much for all your hard work that sometimes goes unseen, pageant day would not have been such a success without you all. Krose Cayman a HUGE thank you for designing my beautiful gown and just being a gem overall! Janelle of @jaaliyahs on Instagram for always doing my makeup PERFECT! Toastmasters! Thank you for helping me prep for all my interviews and giving tips on how to prepare for the neck-wrecking onstage question. ALL of the pageants official sponsors! (Centre Point Dance Studio, @beautycrush_makeupbar, Rock Gorgeous Hair, Divers Supply, www.picture.ky/, Joel Lawson, The Finishing Touch) and soooooo many more for making the Miss World Cayman Islands 2018 Pageant possible! PwC for being SUPER supportive of me and my decision to enter! I would also like to thank everyone that shared advice, words of encouragement or supported me during the weeks leading up to the pageant.
That’s all for now!
